The Bay's Best 420 Munchies

Have you ever met someone who doesn’t get the munchies? Yeah, neither have we. There’s nothing like lighting up and chowing down on something crunchy, greasy, sweet, or all of the above. We’ve rounded up the best places around the Bay to satisfy your bud-induced cravings.

San Francisco

Via Bob's Donuts

Bob's Donuts and Pastry Shop

(1621 Polk Street // Nob Hill)

This classic, family-owned business first opened its doors in 1960, and it’s been bucket list material ever since. They're open 24/7, so you can satisfy your munchies whenever you please. If the devil’s lettuce has you feeling courageous, try to beat the "Bob's Donuts Challenge" (spoiler alert: it involves eating that massive glazed donut) and get a free donut, drink, and Bob's Donuts shirt.

Butter

(354 11th St // SoMa)

Butter’s mission statement is “arteries were meant to be clogged,” and boy, do they mean it. Deep fried Twinkies, cheesy tater tots, corn dogs, nachos, Frito pie — this party bar’s menu is a stoner’s paradise.

Via Devil's Teeth Baking Company

Devil’s Teeth Baking Company

(3876 Noriega St // Outer Sunset)

Too high to go out for a proper brunch? Swing by Devil’s Teeth and grab their legendary breakfast sandwich, bacon cheddar beer muffins, or any of the bakery's insanely delicious pastries to go.

The Sycamore

(2140 Mission St // Mission)

Pork belly donuts were put on this earth to make you feel good (real good). Order them alongside some sliders or a grilled cheese, and consider your cravings handled. If you feel like getting crossed before lunch (hey, we’re not judging), they’ve also got bottomless mimosas.

Via Toy Boat by Jane

Toy Boat by Jane

(401 Clement St // Inner Richmond)

The successor to the beloved local classic Toy Boat Dessert Cafe, this new iteration has thankfully retained the childlike spirit and the stellar ice cream. One stop here and you’ll have a sugar rush for days — try the warm, doughy cookies or specialty sundaes, which truly defy description.

Sam's Pizza & Burgers

(618 Broadway // North Beach)

Sam’s is so iconic, it's actually been designated as a San Francisco Legacy Business. The legacy in question? No-nonsense, delicious burgers, served until the wee hours of the morning. If you’re stoned (or drunk), crush one of these burgers as a perfect night cap.

Via Tempest Bar & Box Kitchen

Tempest Bar & Box Kitchen

(431 Natoma St. // SoMa)

This little hole in the wall serves up some of the most unreal chow in the city. We’re talking Chicken & Waffles, Quesabirria Tacos, Meatball Subs … you get it. If you’re craving it, they’ve got it.

Pink Onion

(64 14th St // Mission)

Honestly, any pizza joint will do when you're high — and the Bay has no shortage of great ones — but we’re partial to Pink Onion. A small but mighty spot, its pizzas are cheesy, saucy, and packed with flavorful toppings that will make even your sober taste buds dance.

East Bay

Via Homeroom

Homeroom

(Multiple Locations)

Mac and cheese, please! Homeroom is the stuff of local legend, and for good reason. Order ahead and pick up your noodles of choice using their to-go option. The main storefront usually is filled with children, so, um, maybe avoid that if you’re blazing up.

Gypsy’s Trattoria Italiana

(2519 Durant Ave // Berkeley)

Follow stoned Cal students to Gypsy’s for huge, creamy plates of pasta, calzones as big as your head, and bread slathered in garlic. They’re open until midnight, so light up late and relive your college days.

Via Vegan Mob

Vegan Mob

(500 Lake Park Ave // Oakland)

Who says only meat eaters get the munchies? If you're a vegan who likes soul food and BBQ — or really any person that likes to eat — Vegan Mob in Oakland is the place to light up and then dine in.

Artichoke Basille’s Pizza

(4799 Telegraph Ave // Oakland + 2590 Durant Ave // Berkeley)

Yes, we’re plugging another Berkeley favorite — what can we say, they know how to do the munchies! Fill your belly with this New York transplant’s namesake Artichoke slice, which has spinach, cream sauce, and artichoke hearts.

South Bay + Peninsula

Via Willow Glen Creamery

Willow Glen Creamery

(1100 Lincoln Ave #130 // San Jose)

Cure that cotton mouth at the Willow Glen counter, where servers scoop giant portions of excellent ice cream and absolutely amazing frozen custard — the latter being a true rarity in this part of the country, unfortunately.

Pho Mai #1

(3074 Landess Ave // San Jose)

No, not Pho Mai #2 (and yes, it does exist). This late night SJ-staple is servin' all your Vietnamese and Filipino munchie needs til 4AM. Just don't get so high that you forget to pay, otherwise you'll end up on the Dine n' Dash Wall of Shame.

Via Keith's Chicken N Waffles

Keith's Chicken N Waffles

(270 San Pedro Rd // Daly City)

If the words “fried chicken” and “waffles” don’t scream munchies fare to you, we’re not sure what will. Keith’s has pretty much perfected the art of this comfort food staple, and your bud-induced appetite will certainly appreciate it.

Stan's Donut Shop

(2628 Homestead Rd // Santa Clara)

Everything here is worth the hype, from the melt-in-your-mouth glazed donuts to the cinnamon rolls and iced cake donuts. We're drooling just thinking about it.

North Bay

Via Davey Jones Deli

Davey Jones Deli

(1 Gate 6 Rd // Sausalito)

Davey Jones serves up sandwiches that are two things: creative and FAT. We go for the Kerouwhack Veggie Sandwich, Holiday Turkey, and the PMP — order one and enjoy sando heaven.

Munchies of Sausalito

(607 Bridgeway // Sausalito)

I mean, it’s all in the name, folks. Dive into the literal barrels of saltwater taffy they sell here and pick up flavors like bacon maple and cheesecake. It’ll be like being a kid in a candy store (except with more weed).

HanBul Korean BBQ

(522 7th St // Santa Rosa)

There aren't a whole lot of Korean BBQ spots in Santa Rosa, and the fact that this is one of the few makes us lowkey jealous of all you North Bay folks. Korean BBQ just hits different to begin with, but this spot really hits just right when you’ve imbibed a little.

The Hummingbird

(57 Broadway // Fairfax)

Southern food and being stoned is a great combination. Leave it to The Hummingbird: they’ve got delectable Creole cooking, beignets, gumbo, chicory coffee, crawfish, and a po’boy so good your stoned brain might just implode. They only take cash or Venmo, so make sure your DD remembers to bring one of those along!
