What better way to enjoy the newfound summer freedom than with some live music provided by the city's very own San Francisco Symphony. Whether you're in the mood for some pastoral classical at Pier 27 or jazz adaptations of world renowned pieces at the Louise M. 7/9: A Jazzy Night with Mark Inouye

Join San Francisco Symphony’s Principal Trumpet Mark Inouye’s quartet for a night of his jazzy takes on classical pieces such as Pictures At An Exhibition and Duke Ellington’s arrangement of the classic The Nutcracker Suite. If classical isn’t really your thing, have no fear! Inouye and the SF Symphony will round out the night with an eclectic mix of original songs and jazz standards. 7/10: Angélique Kidjo with the San Francisco Symphony

Grammy Award winning singer Angélique Kidjo is gracing the city with her US orchestral debut with our very own SF symphony. Kidjo, dubbed “Africa’s premier diva” by Time Magazine, is renowned for her eclectic style that mixes Afropop, Latin rhythms, gospel, jazz and traditional African singing. The night will be filled with songs from her new album Angélique Kidjo Sings, plus Gershwin, a US premiere by Phillip Glass, and tons more! Tickets: $15 - $79. Enter to win:
7/12: Free SF Symphony Concert at Pier 27 featuring Bryce Dessner of The National
Bryce Dessner, guitarist of the acclaimed indie rock band The National, will be joining the SF Symphony for a free performance of his original work, St. Carolyn by the Sea, at the lovely (and appropriately aquatic) Pier 27. Joining Dessner is Pulitzer Prize winner David Lang who will be performing mountain, a tribute to the influential composer Aaron Copland that was also inspired by the American landscape. The Symphony will be accompanying these incredible works with performances of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 and Stravinsky’s incandescent The Firebird Suite (1919 revision).
7/23: THE SPY WHO LOVED ME: MUSIC FROM THE BOND FILMS & FAVORITE SPY MOVIE THEMES

Not only did the James Bond series lay the foundation for the archetypal spy character, it has provided a soundtrack throughout each of it’s films that is immediately recognizable due to it’s mysterious and evocative nature. The SF Symphony and Two Time Grammy Award-winner Sheena Easton, the featured singer on the soundtrack for classic Bond Film For Your Eyes Only, will be taking you on a mysterious and glamorous adventure into the world of Goldfinger, The Spy Who Loved Me, and Skyfall with additional songs from “spy” movies such as Mission Impossible, Austin Powers, and many more!
