You may be getting pumped up for Cinco de Mayo, but the real party starts on May 4th, or Star Wars Day. While not an official holiday on the calendar, May 4th has become an adopted day of celebration for all things Star Wars- as in, May the Fourth be with you. The month of May also has particular relevance in the Star Wars universe. Six of the Star Wars films debuted in May and it's also the month of George Lucas' birthday (May 14th).
While us fanboys and girls are still a little sore about losing out to Chicago for George Lucas' Art Museum, there's no denying Star Wars' ties to the Bay Area. The Letterman Digital Arts Center, located in the Presidio, serves as the combined home of Industrial Light and Magic, LucasArts, and Lucasfilm. Skywalker Sound can be found in Marin County, or more specifically, Lucas Valley. The roots of Star Wars run deep in San Francisco and the Bay Area.

We have our very own At-At Walkers in Oakland:

And Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park served as the location for scenes set on the planet Endor:
SF is also home to the Golden Gate Knights, who regularly teach Lightsaber classes:
