San Francisco street artist, fnnch, has made quite a wave in the community since the shelter-in-place order began. With masked honey bears adorned across SF’s boarded-up storefronts, post drop boxes, and alleyways, fnnch’s work has lightened up quarantine for much of the City. Now, fnnch has shifted his work from SF’s streets to SF’s homes with a Great Honey Bear Hunt for anyone and everyone who's #boredinthehouse.
The scavenger hunt kits go for the at-cost price of $18 which includes a unique honey bear design for you to post in your window, a sticker, and an unsigned print. Optionally, and by default, your shipping address will be added to a map that helps facilitate the hunt. According to CBS SF, fnnch says 3,000 Honey Bear Hunt Kits have already been ordered and will begin shipping out in the next week. One honey bear has already been spotted at the Painted Ladies (@pinkpaintedlady) from Alamo Square.
Additional Details:
- Each kit includes a Mask Bear printed on paper randomly chosen from over a dozen different Mask Bear designs.
- If the bear is too large for your window, just have the top portion showing. Cut it in half or let it hang off the bottom of your window — both will look good from the outside!
- The Honey Bear is intended for your window and is not intended to be a collectible. Please do not ruin the game by storing it or putting it up inside. If you want to save it, take it down carefully when the COVID-19 pandemic is over.

Not only has fnnch contributed to the City through his art, but he has also contributed his art’s revenue to combat the disparities caused by the COVID-19 crisis. Per CBS SF, after gaining an immense amount of popularity from his masked honey bears amid the shelter in place order, fnnch’s online store boomed with orders. Through the print and painting sales, fnnch raised and donated $129K to Bay Area nonprofits, SF New Deal and Safety Net Fund.
In an interview with KPIX 5, fnnch explains the emotional significance of his chosen mural subject, the honey bear. “To me, it’s a universal symbol of happiness... It’s positive. It’s nostalgic. It’s inclusive.” He hopes to continue spreading positivity and happiness with the Great Honey Bear Hunt, making the masked honey bears available for all to enjoy.
