SF's beloved comedy club, the
Punch Line, recently announced that they'll be closing their doors in August and Dave Chappelle
and W. Kamau Bell are not letting it happen without a couple of words. The two comedians joined SF Supervisor Aaron Peskin at City Hall earlier today in efforts to save the beloved venue that helped launch their careers.
Chappelle shared heartfelt words about his experience at the Punch Line and what the legendary comedy club represents to him and his fellow comedians.
“When I quit my show that room became like a home to me...It was where I found out I was having my first kid. It was the last place I saw Robin Williams alive. It’d be like burning down The Louvre. You can’t just put it in another room. That room is special. It’s one of the most important rooms in America.” - Dave Chappelle
