We Love Brewbies: The 2nd Annual Brewbies Beer Fest

The 2nd annual Brewbies in The Bay Beer Fest wrapped up this past weekend and we can’t wait for its return. Tucked away at the edge of Alameda, Faction Brewing provides a magical location for you to sip on craft beer from over 40 breweries while enjoying a view of San Francisco across the Bay. (Pro tip: Visit here on a non-fest day and attempt the drinker’s trifecta with visits to Hangar 1 and St. George Spirits).

Unlike other beer fests that are strictly about the beer, this one donates 100% of its proceeds to the Keep A Breast Foundation. To date, these festivals have raised over $300k to help educate young people about breast cancer and prevention.

This event hits all the right notes: beer, scenery, fundraising, and you get an “i love boobies!” bracelet. What’s not to love?

Special pink beers are crafted by several of the breweries to show their support of the Keep A Breast Foundation. Each of these beers get their color from using natural ingredients such as raspberries or cactus pears. No unnatural ingredients allowed! We went on a search for these magical pink brews and found some real stand-out flavors. Check below for our favorite beers at the event, including both local and visiting breweries.

    In the Bay

Half Moon Bay Brewing (HALF MOON BAY)

Hibiscus Saison

Step aside cherries, hibiscus is here to add a delicious twist to Half Moon Bay's classic Saison. A special yeast strain brings notes of fruit and spice. Though you can't sip on these flowers year-round, the original leaves nothing to be desired.

Faction Brewing (ALAMEDA)

Citraison

Brewed with Citra Hops and Rose Hips, this Saison is the most delightfully pink brew we came across. This is only available to taste at Brewbies fest, so if you're looking to add this to your Untappd check-ins you better show up next year!

High Water Brewing (NOVATO)

Le Petit Diablotin

Unlike the others, High Water brews are only available by the bottle. This American Sour Ale made with local sour cherry and pomegranate juice is sure to please. Grab it for a kickback at home or be the fanciest person in Dolores Park.

 Outside the Bay

Alvarado Street Brewery (MONTEREY)

Prickly Pear

This Kettle Sour will bring you back to childhood for a moment when you realize it’s stunningly similar in flavor to a Jolly Rancher. Except now you’re an adult and you want your Jolly Rancher to get you buzzed.

Bagby Beer Co (OCEANSIDE)

Uncharted Cherritory

While not super pink, this Belgian-style Blonde is packed with a flavor profile worth noting. Made with cranberries, cherries, cinnamon, and vanilla, this delightful brew had us forget it was Spring and transported us back to the Thanksgiving table for just a moment, sans the turkey coma.

Eagle Rock Brewery (LOS ANGELES)

Pink Microdot

Cherries are the popular choice for pink beers and we’re not complaining! One of the most well-known breweries from that far away land of SoCal shows their support for Brewbies with this Pale Wild Ale. While only available for this event, their other pink offerings such as Cerveza Frambuesa are worth the visit if you ever leave the Bay Area.
