Proof the SF Music Scene Is Not Dead: Volume I

The San Francisco music scene encompasses a vast amount of diverse, talented and ambitious bands that are beyond proud to represent our city. In this series, we will highlight some of our favorite local bands who you should listen to. We are happy to launch this first edition by sharing new music from Eyes on the Shore, The Lymbs, Down and Outlaws and The Human Assembly (The HA).

Eyes on the Shore

Eyes on the Shore is a San Francisco/Oakland indie rock band consisting of members Kayhan Golkar, Antrom Kury, Cory Tauber, and the team's newest additions Kevin Mccann and Erik Huang.

The group has compiled a great deal of notable performances under their belt such as SXSW, NAMM, Live 105’s BFD Festival, Popscene SF, and Oysterfest SF. Not only that, they have also supported shows for Geographer, The DMA’s, & Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.

Directly funded by their fans through their pre-order campaign, the band had recently wrapped up recording and mixing their new EP, MaestranzaSince then, they have released singles including "Washed Away," which has successfully hit 100,000 streams on Spotify, "Starting Fires," released on May 7th, and "Black Sheep" released on June 9th.

To celebrate the release of their next single, "Wolf Runner," Eyes on the Shore is holding a show at Slim's with Lou Evans and Melted State on Friday August 12th, 2016. Click here to be in touch with all shows by Eyes on the Shore.

The Lymbs

The Lymbs are a new group in Oakland that have been gaining a local fan base left and right. Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Gage Bickerstaff (guitar, vocals) and Jeff Bell (drums) moved to the Bay Area in the winter of 2015 ready to start fresh in a rising music scene. Being only a two-piece for quite some time, the boys soon met Emily Gunn (bass) concluding the band into the three-piece set it is today.

A live performance by the Lymbs is not one to be missed. Their deep, darkened drum beats, distortion heavy guitar riffs, and lyrically parallel vocals against the instrumentals draws yourself to move with the music. The energy and passion they hold towards their material is radiant and contagious towards their listeners.

Their single "Sacramento" was recently released on June 7th, 2016. Austin Town Hall says, "It has this crunchy style of rock to it, stuttering at moments, before lurching forward into a full-fledged rocker." The Lymbs are now recording a new EP that plans to be released in September.

Catch The Lymbs at their next show at The Rickshaw Stop on September 1st, 2016 with Miss Lightning and Down Dirty Shake. Keep track of all The Lymbs upcoming shows here.

Down and Outlaws have been parading through the SF music scene and beyond since 2012. Peter Danzig (guitar, vocals), Kyle Luck (guitar), Chris Danzig (bass) and Jon Carr (drums)

The band has been turning heads with their sound, gaining loads of press remarks. San Franpsycho says, "Raw energy, blistering guitar leads and dirty vocals over thick bass lines and driving drums. Though their aesthetic is dark and brooding, they write songs that are smartly accessible." The Guitar Player had premiered their song, "Obsession" ahead of their new album.

On Friday July 8th, 2016 the Down and Outlaws will be releasing their debut album, Above Snakes at the Great American Music Hall with Jesus Sons and Dirty Denim. To pre-order Above Snakes, click here.

Down and Outlaws will be touring California soon after their release. Stay tuned for their upcoming shows.

The Human Assembly (aka The HA) consists of frontman Brooks Dierker (vocals, harmonica, keyboard, melodica), Thomas Patrick (guitar), and Michael Dyer (drums). With their infectious melodies and by-the-sea feel, the band has been performing throughout the Bay Area since early 2014 after formerly being known as Hopi Astronaut.

In March of 2015, The HA had released their first EP titled Easy Target. Since then, the band has been busy writing away for their first full-length album to be released this September. They plan to release their single "Bohemian Howl" to give you a taste of their new album on Friday July 22nd, 2016 with their SF local heros, Hungry Skinny at Piano Fight.
